Tips To Help You Avoid Wear And Tear On Carpet

When you have new carpet installed in your home it isn’t a cheap exorcise and for some people it can feel like your moving house again, that's why you don’t want to have to replace it too often. Most people know that caring for and maintaining your home with a professional carpet cleaning technician will help it last as longer, but how do you keep all of your carpet in the same, condition? You’ll notice that your carpet will show signs of wear and tear in the highest-traffic areas for example hallways and staircases first of all, while carpet around the edges and under furniture of your other carpeted areas will stay in much better condition as it’s not as frequently walked on.

The Rug Spa Carpet Cleaning has come up with a few tips and advice to help you avoid wear and tear on home carpet in high-traffic areas.

  • Wearing soft soul shoes or slippers or perhaps walking barefoot inside your home is a better option to keep your hallways and staircases carpet cleaner.
  • A doormat that's placed at your home’s front entrances also can keep dirt, mud and soils off your shoes that are being brought into the home.
  • The use of modern or high-end Persian or Oriental rugs or carpet runners to cover the main walkways along your hallway are also a very effective way.
  • Having a nicely made sign at the front door asking visitors to kindly remove their shoes is also not a bad idea. I see this more and more at homes around Canberra while performing my carpet cleaning services to customers.

Here are some types of different carpet cleaning methods used today:

  • Vacuuming on a regular basis is the best way of removing surface dirt and this should be done at least once a week in the heavy traffic areas. Depending on the quality of your vacuum, you can remove most visible human and pet hair plus dirt and debris with this method.
  • Carpet steam cleaning is a great way to clean carpet more effectively because of its hot water extraction method and deeper cleaning capabilities, it takes between 4 to 6 hours to dry but it's better than having it cleaned every 3 months as a posed to once a year recommended.
  • Carpet dry cleaning is another older and not so effective way of removing deep embedded soils in the carpet. The rotating cleaning machine uses pad to absorb the dirt as it spins and cleans quickly, it however dry faster but the dirt can just be pushed around the room if the carpet is heavily soiled, it is very hard to tell how dirty a carpet can be until you start cleaning it and by that time it's too late to change the process and revert to steam cleaning it instead.
